Can you believe that if Facebook was a country it would be the third largest country and bigger than America?? That is amazing. Television took 13 years to get to 50 million users, Facebook took about 9 months to reach 100 million users!! This growth is incredible especially when you consider Facebook is free! Older ladies are actually the fastest growing group on Facebook!

The opportunities for small business on Facebook and other Social Media sites is incredible and people are making alot of money building their business with them!

And who would have thought that YouTube is already the largest search engine after Google? This is another incredible fact. Everyone knows that Youtube has grown at an incredible rate and is very highly trafficked. A recent change that YouTube made was to transcribe every video that is uploaded, in order to rank it for keywords in their search engine! Therefore you must make sure both your description and your video contain keywords.

Although LinkedIn is not as popular as Facebook, what it lacks in numbers it definitely makes up for in quality of its users. Because LinkedIn is generally used more by managers, directors and business people than by the average worker. Actually 80% of the companies on LinkedIn use it to find employees; another incredible fact! Leads from LinkedIn are going to be some of the best leads you could get on the internet!

Another Social Media site that is growing quickly is Twitter. Celebrities use it to keep fans updated on what they are doing, companies use it to keep in touch with their customers and friends use it to chat. Twitter is growing and changing constantly as new apps are made for it. Twitter is evolving! Because it is so different to Facebook some people do stay away, but the constant buzz surrounding it means that droves of new people are signing up everyday.

There are over 200 million blogs on the internet today. And the majority of them are added to each day. If you are in business, you need a blog for your customers to go to, so they can find out all about your business. Actually you don’t just need a blog, you need a Facebook Fan Page and regular YouTube videos too!! This is what the future looks like!

If you are in business and not online using social media sites, you are missing out considerably. I am aware that alot of people out in the ‘real’ world consider it to be something of a fad and not something that they need to be involved in, but I think they are definitely missing something massive. Just study those figures once more and think about it!!
