Making Money Online – 3 Options for Monetising Your Blog
We’ve looked at 3 Reasons Affiliate Marketing is Popular and 3 Important Acronyms for Making Money so in keeping with our recent theme three, let’s look at three ways you can make money from your blog.
One way to make money on the internet is to write content and use contextual advertising to monetise the site. A blog is a great example of this. The premise of this is that you write useful content on a subject and your site is filled with advertisements that are related to that topic. If people interested in your topic read your content then there is a good chance they could be interested in something linked on the page. Clicking and / or buying something on that page could result in a commission payment, payable to you. Build sites and a solid internet marketing strategy and income streams could become passive.
Companies that you might be interested in looking at include:
Google Adsense
Google Adsense presents ads related to your content when you add a Google widget to your website. You can add banners along the top of the site, the sidebars, or between articles or blog posts. Clicks can range from pocket change to dollars or pounds a click, depending on the cost of the keyword that’s being displayed to the advertiser and what the clicker does when they arrive on the advertiser’s site.
Contextual Ads
Text link companies, such as Kontera are another great option. They’re similar to Google except that you can install a widget that ads links to your body text. If a visitor hovers over a linked word in the text, a preview for an ad will be visible. When they click, you earn money based on that visit. Clicks can range from pocket change to dollars or pounds a click, depending on the cost of the keyword that’s being displayed to the advertiser and what the clicker does when they arrive on the advertiser’s site. Amazon
By adding contextually related Amazon widgets to your content site, relevant products can be listed. If people click and buy anything on the Amazon site (even if it’s not the product you’d advertised), then you earn a commission. Amazon sells everything from downloadable books for the Kindle to large and expensive appliances. The commission may be low but it can become passive, particularly if you sell a Kindle because you can earn commission on not just the device but on every download the purchaser makes, for instance.
Monetising content is one of the many ways you can make money via the internet. Beyond contextual ads, you can also have specific products on the page as well. Some internet marketers do affiliate marketing, make money from ads, and even sell their own physical and information products online.
